Ziplock Ice Cream

Today we decided to make ice cream in a Ziplock bag. Here is how we did it:

In one gallon Ziplock bag we put ice (a little less than half the bag) and salt (about 5 T.)

In another Ziplock bag we put 1 cup milk, 3 T. sugar and 1/2 tsp. vanilla. We sealed this bag and put it in the bag with the ice. Then we sealed the bag with the ice.

After that we took turns shaking the bag for a total of 10 min. The bag with the milk turned into ice cream.

The only problem was that both bags sprung leaks so some of the salt water got into the ice cream and onto the floor as well. It still tasted great (but Cassandra didn't like it because of the salt).

We got an ice cream maker for our wedding that we have never used. I am planning on finally taking it out for the 4th of July. We are also going to make red, white and blue Jell-O. The kids are more excited about that than about ice cream.
